Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”
Spiritual Climate:
On the surface there are decreasing numbers of Germans who would identify themselves as Christian. However, on a deeper level, there is a growing interest in spiritual and also Christian topics. One of the great needs in this country is for educated, trained followers of Jesus Christ to be prepared to share what they believe in an effective way. Germany’s economic well-being drives much of the European economy and its strong position on the world stage makes this country highly strategic in reaching Europe and beyond with the irresistible love of Christ.
On the Ground:
The Dresden Initiative is a highly relational ministry desiring to help those from a historically Christian tradition and upbringing to be connect to a more deeply rooted faith in the Lord. The team works together to implement a growing strategy that is helping influential Germans connect with one another and their faith. Regular small group meetings in Dresden as well as monthly Bible studies in Berlin have gathered business owners, bankers, artists, doctors and professors to a time of spiritual discovery in God’s Word.
At the heart of Momentum Europe, and therefore at the heart of the Dresden Initiative, is the Great Commission – Christ’s last words to his disciples in Matthew 28:18-20. It is Christ commissioning them, and us today, to go into the world and make disciples. This involves sharing the love of Christ with people through both proclamation and demonstration as well as helping true followers of Jesus grow in their ability to reach out to their peers.
Through one on one appointments, small group meetings and larger events, the Dresden Initiative is drawing on the power of the Holy Spirit to help bring new realization and meaning to those who would want to know Jesus more intimately.
