OUR HISTORY
Momentum Europe began with a gathering of six couples in Vail, Colorado. They were brought together by the European Vice-President of Campus Crusade for Christ, International for a weekend of prayer and discussion. The question was simply, could a group of business and professional leaders from American play a strategic role in helping to reach people in Europe for Christ?
With a clear sense of God’s leading they resolved that the answer was “yes” and the ground work was laid for what became Momentum Europe.
Serving to ignite and resource spiritual awakening in Europe and Russia
Momentum Europe is focused on giving every person in Europe and Russia the opportunity to come to faith in Jesus Christ. This is our “north star” – our guiding light. Our heartbeat is to see an increased spiritual harvest – resulting in more followers of Jesus and more multiplying disciples. With some 2,000 Campus Crusade for Christ staff on the ground in Europe, we have the incredible opportunity to serve them – to provide encouragement and prayer and a variety of resources to help them reach their countries with the love of Christ.
We think often about the role that we can play, partners and staff – Europeans, Americans and others – working together to change the “spiritual climate” of Europe. We look forward to the day when the spiritual climate shifts dramatically from cold to hot. Such a shift would greatly increase peoples hunger for the truth of God’s Word, and would dramatically increase the response rate to the Gospel.
As the following chart indicates, our unique contribution to God’s work in Europe and Russia comes in three strategic areas, with Raising Up resources and Reaching leaders both contributing toward Resourcing the growing ministry of European staff members and partners.
